SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Sex has no age. Where it is considered as taboo but physical desires see no boundaries even if you start ageing. People are often hesitated to discuss physical issues as they are taught that way. If your physical desires have same intensity even after 50 years of age there’s nothing bad about it. The nature has bestowed you with the temperament.

As you cross the age bracket of 50 lots of physical changes pops up that obstructs you from enjoying sex but doesn’t curb your desires. Outcome is you have desires but can’t attain them. Result is frustration! When you are encountered with physical fitness statement with advancement in age solution doesn’t lie in finishing off sex life. But adopting the transition accordingly. You can calculate how to do it and what makes the act enjoyable and can follow the pattern without comparing the energy level when you were in your 20s. Being nostalgic and cherishing the adolescence experience doesn’t serve any good. It just adds to your agony. Life is all about moving and adapting to changes. So why not here?

Factors affecting sex life after 50

Physical changes that a man and woman undergo with age are highly detrimental factor. Testosterone level in man is responsible for fuller and firmer erections. Where testosterone level in man is maximum in early 20s it deteriorates substantially with age affecting the erection level. This results into loss of libido. On the other side menopause stage in woman stops her menses exhibiting aftereffects. Loss of vaginal lubrication takes place resulting into painful intercourse. Moreover with age and menopause, elasticity of vagina dies off resulting into loss of interest due incurred pain during intercourse

Medications or Medical Illness and Surgery- Too many medical illness followed by medications and drug can simultaneously interfere with your sexual activity and needs. They may put you down and results into loss of libido and poor erection. Medical diseases such as Blood pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol, Cardiovascular problem are major culprits to drive you away from normal libido. Surgeries involving your pelvic floor also affects your normal intimacy behaviour

What to do to preserve your sex life after 50

You can accrue sexual habits accordingly once you are prepared to adopt the changes. In fact after 50 you have tension free intimacy. You don’t have to fear STDs and other infections if you are in monogamous relations. There is no panic for unwanted pregnancies and you can do it free of condoms. Moreover by the long term relationship the partner understands each other instincts so well that they can read their mind to assess the pleasure. So being positive is the foremost factor to make your intimacy worth cherishing. But as with age you go through changes so you must take care of certain aspects to beat the obstacles. They are-

Communicate your needs to your partner. Turning mute and expecting that your partner will respond through the magic of telepathy is a kiddish perspective. No doubt you understand each other well but in this age along with physical there accrue lots of emotional changes. A woman faces depression pertaining to menopause and similarly men to encounters emotional rift. So you can together share each other pains and plan out how and when you want to do it.

Pelvic Exercise and physical fitness- The vaginal elasticity and erectile dysfunction can be overcome to high extent by doing pelvic exercises. Kegel exercises are the best to shape up the muscles and restore the firmness in erection. Similarly you should indulge in physical exercises like jogging, walks and other light exercises to keep you fit and high on spirits. A tired and haggard body finds itself tiresome to indulge in intimacy. So ageing doesn’t mean relaxing your old muscles in bed 24 hours a day but be active and keep yourself involved in physical activities.

Seek doctor advice- If you feel you are suffering from loss of libido due to certain disease or medication consult your doctor. Apart these if you still feels you have low libido instead of trying all the measures from your side don’t feel shy to get yourself treated for weak erection
