The baby’s growth and development is excellent during pregnancy week three. By this week very few women will learn for sure that they have successfully achieved conception and are pregnant. Though the woman has not yet missed her menses, a baby is growing inside her body, in her womb.

Right now this new ‘life’ is an embryo that consists of a ball of cells, which is quickly getting multiplied and expanding. If the mother were to look at this unborn child through a magnifying glass, she would just notice a group of cells that does not yet match to a human shape. By 3rd week of pregnancy, an infant is about the size of the head of any sewing pin at the pregnancy week two, or about 0.0058 inches long! This is amazing that it is live.

The biggest event during pregnancy week 3 is fertilization. When an ovum joins with sperm, for a baby to get formed the sperm has to penetrate the outer layers of the female egg in order that reaches the ovum. Of the hundreds of thousands of sperms surrounding the ovum, only one will penetrate the female egg. This sperm then combines with the chromosomes of the woman’s egg.

A baby is essentially made up of a combination of chromosomes from the mother and the father. Both of them contribute 23 chromosomes to the development of their fetus. Three days later to the ovum’s fertilization, a 9-cell embryo is built. During pregnancy week three, the amniotic fluid will start collecting around the ball of cells, which comprises the embryo. This will occurs in a cavity eventually becoming the amniotic sac and the amniotic fluid then helps cushioning the baby during the entire period of gestation.

During pregnancy week three, the ball of cells even possesses primitive circulation technique that is made up of tunnels that connect fetus to the uterine wall. The placenta won’t get formed until another week or so. In pregnant woman, there would be anxiety and many things that uncover any physical alteration of pregnancy that might or might not occur during this time.

Most of the expecting women won’t undergo any great changes, however, for some more weeks. The mother might be able detecting that she is ovulating during this period whereas some women are capable to state when they ovulate. The biggest disclose is pains or cramps on one side of the abdomen, whereas other women will have increased amounts of clear and stretchy discharges. Another giveaway that the woman may have conceived by pregnancy week three is a little bleeding. This sometimes happens during conception, although many women may not have this or consider this as just pre-menstrual spotting. This bleeding is often cited to as implantation spotting, and is believed to be due to the egg burrowing in the walls of uterine that line. Generally, this will happen at about 6 days after getting fertilized or closer to the end of pregnancy week three.

One should remember that in the early weeks of pregnancy it is very essential that the expecting mother should take care of herself. The best way she can do this is by eating well balanced diet and adopting wellness pointed lifestyle. If she has not already, she should look at some healthy exercising regimen, provided she has clearance from her health care provider.

In addition, if she has never exercised before becoming pregnant, she can still go for a healthy and active lifestyle, although she will have to do so eventually and cautiously during pregnancy. If she has already been active, she can continue her routine with some limitations during her pregnancy.
