For the next several weeks, the infant is continuing to mature. The structures help forming the spine begin to form around at pregnancy week 25, and blood vessels in the lungs continue to grow during this period. Other things those are getting shaped up during pregnancy week 25 involve infant's nostrils that might open up by the end of the week. The infant starts to put on just a little mass, and will continue to fill out as the gestational period progresses.

Talking about uterus, the womb is now about the size of volleyball at 25th weeks of pregnancy. As the uterus will continue to grow, the mother notices it places some pressure on her back and pelvic region. This could sometimes cause her to feel shooting pain either down to her lower extremities or in lower back region. For some women such pains turn more and more severe as the pregnancy progresses in this week. Some of the expecting mothers will experience a health problem known as sciatica during pregnancy. This will often happen when the infant’s head will press against the pelvic bones that ultimately cause the nerves in mother’s lower back and extremities to get compressed. Severe pains often result and could occur in the lower back, either of legs or in one leg and even bums. Some pregnant ladies will also experience numbness or tingling sensation in lower portion of the body.

For some expecting mothers the pain is very severe that they are not able to lift the leg or walk without gait. This makes trouble and then women seek remedy. Typically most of these expecting mothers will feel a complete relief of symptoms once they deliver the baby. But until then, there are plenty of things she can do to help alleviating the pains:

  • Applying a hot or icepacks for ten minutes to the area which is very painful gives relief.
  • Sleeping on a firm mattress is good for her.
  • Avoiding sitting for long duration is advisable.
  • Avoiding frequent bending at the waist is often recommended.
  • Not getting engaged in movements that turn the pains worse is advisable.
  • Considering physical therapy if the obstetrician approves it is nice idea.
  • Trying to stand up straight and other modification in posture may give relief.
  • Using support cushions and whole body pillows in bed is quite comfortable.
  • Not lifting anything heavy is must.

By pregnancy week 25, the mother is positively glowing. Measuring somewhat larger but not yet bulky, at 25th week of pregnancy the mother probably loves every hour of attention that is wholly concealed in her gestational period.

If the mother already has small children at home, they are likely to just eagerly expecting the arrival of the new life in the family which is so precious. Unfortunately the mother still has many more weeks to go, therefore many expecting mothers prefer to hold back having sober conversations with the children till getting closer to delivering the baby. This is especially the case with the mother having very young children who might expect the infant to get right out if the mother starts talking about delivering the baby now!

It is pregnancy week 25; the mother should talk with her health care provider to make sure she understands the signals of pre-term labor. There are plenty of warning signals that might indicate the mother’s body is getting into labor earlier than expected. Some of the more warning signals include:

  • Continuous cramps in the lower abdomen same as menstrual cramping.
  • Contractions those come at steady intervals or more than four contractions in an hour.
  • Lower backache which seems to be constant.
  • Feeling pressure in the pelvis as if the infant were push down.
  • Bloody or watery vaginal discharges.

During this period of pregnancy week 25, one should talk to the health care provider and find out what processes they would like mother to follow if she suspects she is in pre-term labor.
