It is also important during pregnancy week two that the woman discontinues any harmful habits that might impact on the wellbeing of the unborn kid. Cigarette smoking and any sort of alcohol abuse are both dangerous during pregnancy. Smoking during pregnancy increases the baby's risks of getting small for gestational ages. Smoking also interposes with the body's ability of absorbing folic acid that is important for helping preventing neural tube defect.

The smoking can increase the risks of miscarriages and low birth weighing babies. Other risk factors among smoking people include pulmonary disease and increased risks for placenta previa, a potential life threatening problem.

Here are some symptoms to look for if the woman is pregnant and is in pregnancy week two:

  • Increased fatigue
  • Missed menstrual cycle
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Breast tenderness
  • Frequent urination
  • Metallic taste felt in mouth
  • Sleep disturbances – insomnia
  • Increased body temperature remaining elevated after ovulation

Determining Baby's Due Date – expected/estimated delivery date (EDD)

The query that will most often follow is "Am I pregnant?" "When is my delivery due?" Predicting the baby's due date is one of the joys of the first couple of weeks of the gestational period. Expecting woman can work together with her health care provider for determining the estimated due dates of the delivery.

Most of the health care professionals calculate pregnancy from the beginning of the LMP (last menstrual period). Using this technique, one is actually considered pregnant in the two weeks anteceding real conception. This will result in a calculation of forty weeks for the whole gestational period, even though pregnancy usually lasts about 38 wk from the date of conception.

Stretch Mark Prevention

it is during second week that there would be common concern of all pregnant women – how to get rid of stretch marks. Recent studies have revealed that there are methods to prevent the appearance or at least minimizing the severity of stretch mark before it occurs by using some specially formulated topical herbal cream and lotion.

Life change in pregnancy week two

A pregnant woman might experience a variety of different emotions during this period, the second week. At this juncture she has probably made the decision of becoming a parent and is considering all the duties that define parenting.

For some parents, this is the period filled with expectations coupled with anxieties. Remember that this is perfectly normal to quite anxious about the changes that new life will bring into mother’s life. She might be anxiously awaiting some positive pregnancy tests during such period. Tears of joys as well as tears of anxiety are common in the early weeks, and even throughout the gestational period.

The last menstrual period would probably have started probably 12-16 day ago. The mother might be ovulating during this period but one has to remember that fertility tracking and charting might assist her predicting what days she is most likely to be prolific. She can even go for some ovulation predictor kits that help her pinpointing the day she is most likely to conceive.

During this couple of weeks, an incredible number of alterations are occurring in woman’s body. The hormone levels have altered significantly ensuring the uterus that creates a rich lining of tissues that will support a fertilized ovum after conception.

During pregnancy week two, the ovaries will produce ripened eggs in the vessels known as follicles. During ovulation that will typically occur around the 14th day of menstrual period, which is 28 day long, one or more of the ova will burst out of the follicles. The ovum will then wait calmly in the fallopian tubes, the place where sperm fertilizes it. It is amazing to learn that it takes approximately ten hours for sperms to reach the ovum!

During this couple of weeks, the fertilized ovum, otherwise called as a zygote gets divided into multiple cells and begins burrowing into the rich lining of the womb. A baby here is simply a ball of cells, which turns at this point to a blastocyst. In pregnancy week two, the blastocyst comprises of an inner cell mass, which gradually transforms into the embryo, another cavity which turns into the amniotic sac, and an outer cell body that will be forming one of the most important organs known as placenta. It is very amazing how fetus develops from such apparently primitive ball of cells!
