The infant is growing its leaps and bounds as always as the mother continues her pregnancy week by week traveling! The mother would still be able to see her infant's blood vessels across its paper-thin skin if she were to glance inside the womb during 15th week of pregnancy. In fact the vessels getting formed in the infant’s body turn it looking rather like a map!
In pregnancy week 15, the infant starts producing lanugo that is fine hair, which covers your infant's body up till a few weeks before taking the birth. Lanugo will cover every part of the infant in uterus, except for the palms and soles of the feet. It will also leave lips, penis (in case of baby boy), nail and inner fingers and toes. Ideally infants will shed this hair by the eight month of pregnancy, but it may persist in some women even after birth for quite a short little time. Pre-term infants are more susceptible to be born with lanugo as compared to full term newborns. The infant might start suckling its thumb in pregnancy week 15. One should start observing a more bloated abdomen by the time of 15th week. Most of the expecting women might have put on anywhere from five to ten pounds by this time. The womb has now risen or is beginning to rise past the innominate bone by 15th week of pregnancy. The healthcare professional will be able to nearly feel it about 3 inches or so below the belly button of the woman.
Later in pregnancy week 15, the healthcare professional will start measuring the uterus, which they will label to as fundus heights. This result helps confirming the due date, as it generally correlates with the numbers of weeks the woman has been pregnant. The fundus height is medically defined as the distance between the top of the womb and the os pubis.
At pregnancy week 15, the mother starts feeling more pregnant as some women start feeling some unexpected side effects well in the pregnancy. For instance, excessive salivation is very common during gestational period. This is nothing to be alerted about although it could be a bit awkward at times. While, other expecting mothers start feeling more stuffy noses during 15th week of pregnancy. This is because of swellings in the mucous membrane of the nose, for the most part the result of increased hormone production. The mother might also find however that she has a cold at 15th week of pregnancy. Pregnant women are less protective to common illnesses, in part since their immune system is compromised during gestational period. One should be sure that she takes great care washing her hands religiously when stepped out of the home.
