Most of the women equate a missed menstrual cycle with the possibility of being conceived but other symptoms and signs are felt by most women in the early stages of pregnancy. It is important remembering that not all women experience all of those symptoms or have the symptoms to the same extent or levels. Even the same woman can have different types of signs and features in a subsequent pregnancy than she has had in her past pregnancies. There is some different pregnancy more condition symptoms that one has to learn in order to keep updated with the pregnancy.
Symptoms that include pain or burning when micturation; pain in lower pelvis, lower back, abdomen or side; tremors, chills; feverish; sweating; nausea, vomiting; frequent or out of control urge to urinate; strong-odor urine; change in amount of urine; bleeding or pus in urine; pain during sexual activities are seen. For this, the p otential problem will be urinary tract infection (if left untouched, can travel to kidneys that can cause premature, or early, labor).
The diagnosis for this includes urine test and the treatment includes antibiotics, usually 3 to 7 day course such as amoxicillin, nitrofurantoin, or cephalosporin’s medication.
In the symptoms of painless vaginal bleeding during the second or third trimester and there will be no symptoms in many of the cases. Here, the potential problem includes placenta previa (the placenta, or the temporary organ that joins the mother and fetus, covers part or the entire cervix and might cause severe bleeding generally towards the end of the second trimester or later requires an ultrasound examination for diagnosis.
The treatment includes, if diagnosed after the 20th week of pregnancy, but with no bleeding, needs to cut back on activities level and to be on bed rest. If bleeding is heavier, requires hospitalization till mother and baby are safe. If the bleeding stops or is lighter, requires continued bed rest till baby is ready for the delivery and if bleeding does not stop or if pre-term labor begins, the infant will be delivered by cesarean section.
For the symptoms such as vaginal bleeding during the second half of gestational period; cramps, abdominal discomfort, and uterine tenderness are caused due to placental abruption (a condition wherein the placenta gets separated from the uterine wall before delivery, stripping the fetus of oxygen. Again, the diagnosis would be an ultrasound and its treatment includes bed rest for a few days that generally stops the bleeding and in moderate cases it might require complete bed rest. Severe cases (when more than 50% of the placenta separates requires immediate medical attention and delivery of the infant.
In other symptoms such as fetus stops moving around and kicking; if, after 26th week of pregnancy, the count is fewer than 10 kicks in a day, or if the baby is moving very less than usual, the pregnant woman should see health care provider right away as it could be due to the baby that maybe in distress pointing potential risk of stillbirth. The diag nosis is a nonstress test (NST) that measures the response of the baby's heart rate to every movement of the baby makes as stated by mother or seen by a health care provider on the screen linked with ultrasound. There might be contraction stress test that is generally ordered in case, nonstress test has a problem. The treatment for that depends on results of tests. If a test shows a problem, this does not always mean the infant is in trouble as it might only mean that the mother requires special care until the baby is birthed. This could include a wide variety of precautions such as bed rest and further monitoring, again that depends upon the mother's condition.
