Introduction of EPT Pregnancy Test

An EPT pregnancy test is nothing but an early home pregnancy test kit that is very popular all across the world. This could probably due to its claim that it has 99% accurate results in detecting the pregnancy hormones. Nevertheless, some of the pregnant women might not have detectable amounts of their pregnancy hormones in their urines on the very first day of the missed menses or might have miscalculated the first day of their menstrual cycle.

Using EPT Pregnancy Test

Using EPT pregnancy test kit is quite easy. All the things to be done by a use are to follow the instructions supplied with the kit. The information kit contains the steps to use the kit. First, remove the EPT Pregnancy test stick from the foil packet just before using and then remove the purple cap for exposing the absorbent tip.

One should then hold the test stick by its thumb grip and then point the absorbent tip downwards. The next step follows is placing the absorbent tip in the flowing urine for just five seconds or dipping the absorbent tip in a clean container that has urine for about 20 seconds. During all this time, keep the absorbent tip pointing downward. Then, place the test stick onto a flat surface with result-window facing upwards for at least two minutes. If you wish, you can replace the cap covering the absorbent tip. The user will notice a light blue color that moves across the windows.

The thing to be noted here is to avoid affecting the test result, it is important to wait for at least two minutes before picking up the stick.

Reading the results of an EPT Pregnancy Test:

Waiting for a couple of minutes for reading the result. A line appears in the square window as a control showing that the user has performed the test correctly. One should be sure reading the result before 10 minutes have gone.

The results

Pregnant woman will have A (+) sign in the round window indicating she has successfully conceived. The lines those make up the plus sign might be different shades of blue but then, she has to see her healthcare provider for discussing the pregnancy and the next steps. Early prenatal care is essential for ensuring the health of the expecting mother and her baby.

In case, the woman is not pregnant, she will have A (-) sign in the round window indicating she is still carrying an empty uterus! If the menses do not start within a week, the woman has to repeat the test. If she still gets a negative result and the period has not started, it is better to see healthcare provider for underlying cause.

When and how to use EPT test?

EPT Pregnancy Test can be used as soon as the woman misses her menses and any day thereafter. If she prefers to test early, EPT Pregnancy Test can be used as early as four days before she expects her menses to start. If the woman tests early and gets a "not pregnant" result, there are still chances that she might be pregnant.

Using, as described, is easy. If the user is testing before she expects her period to start, it is better that she should test with her first urine of the day. Or else, one can test at any time during the day but she should avoid excess fluid intake before testing.

Functioning of EPT Pregnancy Test

The EPT Pregnancy Test detects hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin). This is the hormone present in urine only in a pregnant woman. The test can detect even little amounts of the hormone in the urine.

The factors that affect the EPT results

Certainly, there are many factors that affect the results. For instance, the drugs that contain hCG or are used in combination with hCG. In addition, ovarian cyst, ectopic pregnancies and rare medical ailments can affect the result. If the woman repeats the test and continues to get unexpected results, it is better to contact the health care provider. To use EPT Pregnancy test within nine weeks of delivering the child or having a miscarriage might cause a positive result that could be false. The test might detect hCG that is still in the mother’s system from a previous pregnancy. One should ask her doctor to help in interpreting the results of the EPT Pregnancy test if she has recently been pregnant.

Factors that should not affect the test results include alcohol consumption, analgesics (pain killers) intake, antibiotics course, birth control pill or hormone therapy that contains clomiphene citrate (Clomid or Serophen).
