Entertaining a room full of teenagers can be exhausting. That’s why it is important to consider what types and styles of games should be made available to the guests. It can be a daunting task planning teen party games, but even the simplest ideas can be successful.
• Plan a scavenger hunt. If you have a large enough area, a scavenger hunt allows guests to mingle and socialize while working towards a common goal. You can also plan variations of this, such as a treasure hunt. Both will consist of detailed planning and can be somewhat time-consuming to set up, but teens love the challenge.
• Old fashion board games. As silly as it might seem, there is nostalgia in those old board games and allow teens to reminiscence about their childhood momentarily. Games that challenge the mind or allow the guests to compete against each other often offer greater enjoyment and laughter.
• Plan a killer mystery. Choose a killer among the guests and test the teens to find out who is the killer. Teens can plant false clues, give false information in a wicked game of misdirection.
• Hide and Seek is always a great game to play, particularly in the evening, when it becomes more difficult to see. If the party is within a safe environment, a game of hide and seek will entertain teens for hours. Some variations of the game includes group hide and seek, where teens gather in groups and seek out others, water-filled balloon hide and seek, where teens use balloons filled with water to mark those they have caught; and water gun hide and seek.
• Physical challenges. Games which still remain popular are ones that involve physical dexterity, like carrying eggs on spoons without dropping them, tossing eggs to a partner and passing various objects like fruit to each other without using hands.
Whatever games are planned, ensure that they are both challenging and entertaining. There is nothing worse than a party full of bored teenagers. It is also advisable to have several teen party games planned, as well as several back up games, in case the teens are little less than enthusiastic about the games before them. All in all, a well planned game session will result in a successful party and enjoyable time for all those who were invited.
