Most new born party decorations will be very similar to baby shower decorations, but with the bundle of joy already in the world, you can design the decorations around the sex of the child. Choose decorations which are gender appropriate. There are all sorts of baby blue and baby pink baby shower decorations available. If the new born are twins and of different sexes, you can decorate in multiple pastel colors, including baby blue and baby pink. You can use light yellow and pale green as accent colors as well. Or you can simply use whatever color the mother happens to prefer or what colors she designed her nursery with. Just keep in mind that this is her celebration, so design the decorations around her likes.
Using baby toys as decoration is a cute idea as well. Placing baby building blocks on table tops adds a bit of whimsy to the day. If you want to get creative, you can fold linen napkins into diaper shapes, use baby blankets as table cloths and sippy cups to drink from. Depending if there is a specific theme to the party, cater the new born baby party decorations around that. Such as, if you have safety themed parties, have bouquets of different safety items, and then give the decorations to the mother when she leaves.
Some other great ideas for decorations are using napkin or real diapers hanging on a clothes line with color appropriate bows and the child’s name on them. Make sure the mother takes them home! She can use them. You can also put tea lights into empty baby food jars as table decorations. The possibilities are endless, just be creative!
Depending on your budget, get as creative as you can, but try to make the decorations both interesting and useful. Who says the decorations have to be thrown out when the party is over? By using items that the mother can use when she and the baby arrive home, you can save on money and also better prepare the guest of honor.
