Gifts aren’t always necessary for new born baby parties, but if you want to bring a gift for the mom and the new born, you can. It just depends on your budget.

Some of the mainstays of new born baby gifts are:

Onesies are always needed for newborns. Different sizes, colors and styles are available. This makes a great gift, as a new mother can never have enough onesies. You can get just one or a pack with several.

Baby picture frames are another great gift for new mothers. Try to find one that is memorable and unique. This is a great way for the new family to memorialize the new one to the family. There are plenty of great frames available. See if you can get a photograph of the newborn prior to the party, and place the photo in the frame for the new mom.

Clothing is always welcome when there’s a newborn. Between growth spurts and stains, baby clothing can disappear fast, so it is always a great idea to give the new mom to be plenty of clothing. Just make sure they have fasteners which make diaper changing simple.

Providing the new mother with health items she may not consider buying herself is a great way to prepare her for motherhood. Items like nail clippers, a first aid kit, lotion, and powder can help the new mom when she brings home her new bundle. Providing them prior to the arrival makes it less stressful for her in those moments of anxiety.

Feeding items like bottles, bibs and feeding spoons are also great gift ideas. You can prepare a gift with just a feeding theme, with gifts tucked into a diaper bag or some other baby item. If feeding items aren’t your cup of tea, you can put together a gift of different bath products and place inside a baby bath tub. Be sure and include wash cloths, age appropriate baby toys and a hooded towel, so baby doesn’t get cold when bath time is over.

Toys are always welcome, but just being sure that they are age appropriate. Soft plush toys are great items to give a new mom, as they are harmless to newborn.

It is best to check with the party planner to see if the mom is registered at a local store. This way you can be sure to bring a new born baby gift that the new mother has chosen and not pick something she already has or doesn’t feel she needs.
