Throwing a Hawaiian theme party can be very easy and inexpensive to do. All you need is the right location. However, not all of us have beach front property or even a pool. With a little imagination and preplanning your Hawaiian theme party can go off without a hitch. All you need is the proper setting, clothing, food and festivities. Just think Hawaii, and then think party!
Unless you live on the beach or have a pool, the setting of your Hawaiian themed party may be the most difficult part to procure. There are ways around this. You can usually rent a lakefront resort or local pool and decorate as you please. On a smaller scale anywhere with enough sand or soft ground will do. A Hawaiian theme brings Hawaiian dress, namely shorts, skirts, bathing suits, and most importantly no shoes. Make the ground comfortable to walk on barefoot with plenty of lounging spots. Light candles and torches for soft lighting. Have little umbrellas for everyone’s drink. Simple netting and beach shells can really set the stage for a Hawaiian party. A camp fire is always the perfect centerpiece. Choose seating that can be moved easily. That way your Hawaiian guests have the opportunity to do the hula or cuddle up next to the fire. Freedom of movement is a necessity in a Hawaiian party.
Food is a big issue in a Hawaiian themed party. Instead of a sit down meal, a buffet style set-up is the way to go. Let everyone have the chance to snack and mingle or load up a plate and retreat to a corner. Treat this like a backyard barbeque only in Hawaii. Fire up the grill and get creative. Instead of hotdogs and hamburgers have shish kabobs and seafood. Let that Hawaiian scent permeate the air. Put out fresh pineapple and fruit cubes. Have an ice cold bowl of boiled shrimp with sauce nearby. Plenty of finger foods and quick snacks are necessary to keep a Hawaiian party going.
A Hawaiian party needs some music for ambience. If the typical Hawaiian ukulele isn’t right, don’t worry. Any light instrumental music will get you through. If encouraged, anyone can play guitar or drums. Have them bring their instruments and have your own Hawaiian band. Playing music by a fire can be a great time. You could hang badminton net up anywhere for an easy low paced game. Have plenty of things to do for your guests and plenty of places to sit and lounge. It you can balance all this just right then your Hawaiian theme party would be the best party ever.
