Bachelorette party planning is the responsibility of the maid-of-honor; as it is her chance to help the bride-to-be celebrate her last nights of freedom. But with this job comes a great deal of work, particularly if the party is to go off without a hitch.
When the bride-to-be has designated a friend, sister, co-worker, or family member as a maid-of-honor, she is then responsible for the planning of the bridal shower and bachelorette party.
An organized maid-of-honor will do well if she keeps to a schedule and her checklist. A sample checklist would have such items as invitations, party favors, party games, and food and drink, as well as any personalized items she may add.
Once it is decided where the party is to be held, it is pertinent that the maid-of-honor sits down and writes out a schedule to keep her on track. It should begin something like this:
Five months before event:
- Where the event will be held, how many in attendance, time and date
- Listing of all the names of invited guest,
- Placing any orders on favors, invitations and games as needed
- Check on reservations (some places may have a waiting list, it is best to go ahead and reserve space in advance, just in case)
Three months before event: (only if out of town and distant location)
- Send out invitations
One month before event
- Send invitations (if local location)
- Reserve means of transportation
- Check on reservations, if placed
Two weeks prior to event
- Email or call all invited guests to find out if they will be attending or not
- Prepare party favors and gifts
After that, the main focus is to have fun, enjoy the evening, and celebrate a job successfully pulled off. But don’t be afraid to ask for help. Bridesmaids are there to help. If you are strapped for time, delegate projects and tasks to the bridesmaids, as it is their responsibility to help out whenever needed? Either way, bachelorette party planning can be fun and rewarding. The evening is meant for fun, so don’t get caught up in all the details. If things don’t work out, it’s fine. The night is supposed to be about friends and laughs.
