Have you ever wanted to learn how to cook using low calorie methods? Do you still want to be able to enjoy your favorite dishes but don’t want to have to consume all the fat and calories in the food that you love? If so, there are techniques you should know in order to enjoy your favorite meals with fewer calories and be able to continue your weight loss goals.
Most of the foods and meals we love and enjoy that are high in calories and fat are prepared by methods of cooking like deep fat frying, or pan frying. It can also be some of the ingredients that are the reason for the high number of calories and that make them unhealthy. If you are really serious about becoming healthy and learning to cook healthy meals, you can learn to still enjoy some of your favorite dishes by low calorie cooking.

Ingredients such as cream, butter and rich sauces or dressings are usually the culprits for high-calorie dishes and meals. By learning to substitute lower calorie versions of those foods, you will be saving yourself hundreds of calories and fat grams as well. The key is to substitute the higher calorie ingredients with low-cal versions and still keep the taste and consistency. When recipes call for butter or heavy cream, most of the time it is possible to substitute lighter varieties and not sacrifice the taste of your food.
Also, when you are cooking your favorite meals, try to avoid deep frying or other frying methods as these tend to create a higher calorie meal and can really stack up the fat content as well. Choose low calorie cooking methods like broiling, baking and boiling when possible. Another hint is to make use of herbs and spices when you can in your meal, it is a good way to add in flavor without adding in calories. With a few simple changes, you can enjoy the meals you love and not lose track of your diet and healthy eating plans.
