With all of the choices out there for beverages for our children, it can be difficult to search through them all and find the healthy drinks that truly are good for them. It seems as though a lot of children’s beverages on the market seem to be ridden with sugar, and do not offer much in the way of nutrients. So how do you find a beverage that is a healthy drink for your children?
Most experts agree that staying away from soda pop, sugary mixes and sugar-laden fruit juices is the best thing you can do for helping keep your kids healthy and preventing health problems and tooth decay. But it can be hard to decipher at times what is healthy and what is not. Often fruit juices are labeled to be healthy, but in fact are loaded with sugar and calories that can be hidden. It is a good idea to always completely read the food labels and know that sugar can come in hidden forms on nutrition labels as well.
Milk is always an excellent choice for children, and one that commonly gets overlooked. The importance of milk in a child’s diet is essential for proper bone, teeth and overall health. The proteins and calcium that are in milk are unmatched in any other food source. And getting enough calcium early on in a child’s life can help their bones become strong and can prevent further problems as they get older.
Fortified juices and mixes that are low in sugar and retain a lot of nutritional content are also healthy drinks recommended for children, and certain kinds of mixes that you can add to water or milk will help the child drink more of them and allow them to get the vitamins and nutrients that their growing bodies need.
