We all know how important protein is in helping our bodies function properly and that we need to get enough of it everyday in our diets. For some of us, we may not always know what the best sources are to get the lean protein we need. If you are looking for some good sources in food high in protein, that are full of flavor and delicious, here are ten of the best foods to get your variety of protein from:

1. Chicken Breast – A 3.5 ounce serving has 30 grams of protein
2. Turkey – One ounce serving contains 7 grams of protein
3. Tuna – 6 ounces contains 40 grams of protein
4. Salmon – 3.5 ounce serving contains 27 grams of protein
5. Eggs – 1 large egg contains 7 grams of protein
6. Milk- 8 ounce serving contains 8 grams of protein
7. Cottage Cheese - ½ cup serving contains 15 grams of protein
8. Almonds, Peanuts and Cashews – ¼ cup serving has 8-9 grams of protein
9. Peanut Butter – 2 tablespoon serving contains 8 grams of protein
10. Yogurt – 8 ounce serving contains 8-12 grams of protein

Although these are ten of the best choices of healthy, food high in protein, there are many others, and depending on your particular diet, you are sure to find enough sources of protein to get your daily requirement. Incorporating some or all of those ten choices into your diet will help you get other vitamins and nutrients as well.

Depending on your individual requirements for protein, you should figure on getting at least .75 to 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight every day. This can come from a variety of foods and the more variety you have in your diet, the more kinds of other nutrients you will get.
