When it comes to your child, no doubt you are trying to do whatever you can to ensure that he or she is safe and healthy. Knowing what your child needs to eat everyday to be healthy is critical. It seems it is so convenient to stop and pick up fast food for dinner after a long day at work and hungry kids, but not giving your kids the nutrition they need can hamper their health in the future.
Children need essential vitamins and nutrients in order for their growing bodies to keep up with them. Well into their pre-teen and teenage years, children are continuing to grow and develop and without the proper nutrition, they will not be able to grow up to their potential. What can you do to ensure that you are giving your children everything they need?
While every child is different, and the needs of each child are unique, there are some basic nutritional guidelines that you should follow for your child’s health:
• Make sure your child starts out each day with a healthy breakfast
• Children require at least two full servings of protein-rich food per day. 24-28 grams of protein is needed for children.
• Calcium is an important requirement for your child; they need 800-1300 mg of calcium every day to keep up with their growing bones.
• Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Vitamin D are crucial for your child’s growing body.
• Iron rich foods are needed and your child should have 10 gram of iron a day.
Doing these simple, basic steps can help ensure your child is getting the proper nutrition that they need. It is also important that your children get enough activity and exercise every day. Children need to get enough exercise along with the proper nutrition to stay healthy.
