It has been observed that in case of vitiated vata, the colour of urine is pale and clear. In case of pitta disorder the urine is reddish in colour and sometimes it is yellow, so also in kamala (jaundice). In vitiated kapha dosha, the urine is foamy and sometimes white. It may be greasy and sticky, like turbid water. In vitiation of more than one dosha there may be a mixture of various colors. It is well known that pitta urine (acidic in nature) is always darker in colour than that of urine, which is alkaline in nature when they are of equal concentration. Whenever there is excess of destruction of blood cells or damage of liver is there, a large amount of pigmented matters appears in the urine. The urine changes to darker colour on standing owing to conversion of one pigment into another.
Normally passes urine is clear and transparent. But, it may be opalescent from the presence of various substances in the suspension including bacteria. Small quantities of blood in the urine cause the urine to look smoky.
In indigestion condition and in chyluria (kapha disease) more particularly, the urine will be like that of curd or kanji. In other cases in which indigestion is involved, the urine will be like water mixed with sandal paste.
