If you are a movie-star from the nineteen hundreds then a thin Moustache won’t look good in these modern times, so that’s a no-go. If you still want to grow the old “soup strainer” then try to grow it thick and manly. Ideally, growing your whiskers for 2-4 weeks are sure to get them up to decent length for shaping them; then you can use a shaver to clear away extra hair, but don’t clear the hair on the upper lip just yet.
Use a good quality home-trimming kit like the “Groomsman XL II electric shaver” which allows you different choices for trimming, e.g. wide setting on the trimmer head to make a straighter moustache. But, if you prefer a natural moustache, then go for this style; lay off the ‘T’ head completely, taking care not to let it grow horizontally longer than the length of your upper lip because when you smile, this style will bend towards your cheeks, which will look odd – unless connected to chin whiskers.
Another choice for winter facial hair styles is the goatee. For the basic, fuller goatee, grow your whiskers out and use a good quality electric shave system to clear away the hair on the cheeks and neck. After using the trimmer head to edge the ‘borders’ of the goatee around your chin and moustache area, use the smaller trimmer head setting for crafting a thinner, clearer goatee that looks great for cocktail parties.
For a nice beard like the Miami Vice-style stubble, grow your entire whiskers for 2 or 3 days; then using an electronic shaver at the lowest settings, even out the growth on your cheeks, upper lip and chin. Next, use the foil shaver to remove unattractive hairs on the lower neck; if these are too long and starting to curl, then also you can get that stubble by aiming for a balance, which is the subtle difference between looking stylish and looking unkempt.
