Popularly known as Val, Val Edward Kilmer what his full name goes like is one of the leading actors of the tinsel town, Hollywood. This male actor however made his first debut in “Top Secret” (1984) portraying rock idol Nick Rivers where he sang the numbers and cut his own album named “Rivers”. Kilmer was born on 31st December, 1959, in Los Angeles, C.A and learnt acting at Hollywood’s professional school and later became the youngest student to be accepted into Julliard’s drama department in New York. He is often described as the intuitive and underrated actor who does not get his due as per his caliber.
Kilmer is the fifth and only blonde actor to play Batman. He is best suited in versatile roles which he has offered in his life time. He is a very choosy actor and often tagged as difficult to work with. Because of his artistic tastes and his anonymous nature he remained at bay from the hue and cry of bagging stardom. He is a perfectionist and follows a strict discipline while working which led him to turn down many offers that churned out as blockbusters post release. It goes like “Blue Velvet”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Indecent Proposal”, “Backdraft”, “Dune”, “Silver”, “In the line of fire” and “Point break”. His cinematic chartbuster came in 1991 through his portrayal of the rock icon Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s “The Doors”.
Kilmer’s His performance in the movie took Morrison’s band members to doubt if it was the real Jim as Kilmer has sung a number of his soundtracks in the movie. He again played another rock n roll character, Elvis Presley in “True romance”. He also starred in Michael Mann’s “Heat” in 1995 along with other two legends Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. In the year 2003 he starred in the role of another American icon the king of porn, John Holmes for the thriller “Wonderland”. He met his lady love Joanne Whalley on the sets of the film “Willow” in the year 1987 and in the next year he got married and settled down.
