Upgrade Your Legs

You heard of a style makeover and even a home improvement plan, but did you know you could bring in that much-touted phrase into your daily fitness regime and give your legs a much-needed power boost? No? Then read on and find out just how exactly you can upgrade your legs to the kind that men’s fitness magazines advertise on their summer special covers, right here!

With the right fitness routine, dedicated work-out schedules and regularized gym exercises , you can not only upgrade your legs to accommodate stronger weight-bearing and resistance muscles but also reduce injuries, increase motivation and look good in shorts, come summer or spring. The exercises mentioned here are aimed at directly adding power to your leg workouts and help you build muscle with simple home gym equipment such as barbells and dumbbells.

Begin with placing the barbell on the floor and lunging over it, recommends Scott Mendleson, the CEO of infinityfitness.com in order to improve your technique for training glutes and your hamstring muscles; lunging over the bar makes them hard, faster. This activity is recommended thrice a week without rest between 2 sets (of 3 each) and that too, only for a minute in-between.

After this, you can load 20kg plates onto a barbell and standing approx. a meter behind it, hold a dumbbell to one side so you one foot is just in front of the bar when you perform the lunge over it; it is essentially you quickly push back to the starting position and repeat this up to 8 times per leg.

That done, get onto to performing the hack squat: you need to place the bar on a squat rack in level with your hips and stand with your back to it while grabbing it in an overhand maneuver. Steady your grip on the bar and hold it at arm’s length (behind it) as you bend your knees and hips, gradually lowering your body till your thighs are parallel to the ground; then you can push back to the starting position and repeat the set 6 times.

Stick to this routine for at least 3 months for enhanced and more powerful leg muscles that look good in shorts – and out of them, too!
