Treatment of Heartburn at Home
October 22, 2009
Heartburn indigestion is normally a condition that does not require immediate medical expertise. It can be treated with some usual home remedies and lifestyle changes.
I will be presenting home relief methods that you can consider to avoid and even to cure this condition.
One good way to prevent heartburn is to regularly drink milk and eat yogurt as they help in stabilizing the acids that cause the heartburn indigestion. The good bacteria in yogurt generally help in the role of the digestive system in the body.
Bananas also help in the reduction of acid as well as rice and nuts or almonds. Rice is good in absorbing the acid in the stomach and bananas and almond oil help in neutralizing the acid.
Strange as it may seem, there is a kind of vinegar that is helpful in preventing heartburn indigestion. This is the vinegar from apple cider. With two teaspoons mixed with some honey in water, the vinegar will taste better.
Apart from the food mentioned, herbs and plants are also helpful in preventing heartburn indigestion. Ginger and marshmallow root tea help in coating the esophagus to prevent the release of too much acid from it. When taken daily, it will surely help ease the condition.
Other than marshmallow root tea, goldenseal also helps to destroy the bacteria affecting the digestive system. You can leave the roots of the goldenseal in a container for at least two weeks and you will produce an alcohol that is good for you.
As you make an improvement in the foods that you eat, you have to also eliminate the ones that will not do any good for your general health. Avoid spicy food. Do away with eating of chocolates no matter how enticing they are. You should also avoid tobacco, coffee and alcoholic products as they will do your body no good.
Also, avoid eating before bedtime so your digestive system will not work hard. This will sometimes make the situation worse. And if heartburn happens, it is advisable to raise your pillow by several inches to allow you to breathe easily.
These are some tips to prevent heartburn indigestion. Some may no longer be new to you but I can assure you that they are still proven effective.
