There are quite a number of people who have athlete’s foot. Given below are some tips to ease the problem naturally.
Dip your foot in salt water daily before you go to bed. It is better if the water is warm. Salt water makes your skin dry and also cures the problem. Mix water and baking soda and make it into a paste. Massage your feet with this paste, especially between the toes.
Wash it off later and dry. Once your feet are dry, apply powder. After you bathe, use a scrub to remove the dead skin in your feet. This way the fungus leaves your feet. If the dead skin is left without removing the fungus, it may keep developing in the dead skin, and this increases the infection.
Clean your toenails daily. There are lots of chances for the fungus to accumulate in the toenails. Avoid plastic or waterproof shoes because if the foot is warm and moist, the fungi will develop.
Keep your feet dry as far as possible. Do not wear the same pair of shoes the whole day. Change shoes. Do not repeat the same pair of shoes the next day. Have two pairs of shoes and alternate. Wash the shoes regularly. Do not forget to wipe the inside of the shoes.
If you sweat a lot, change your socks at least three times a day. Avoid synthetic socks and use only cotton socks.
Wash your socks well. See that there is no soap left after rinsing, since some might be allergic to that. Dry it well before use. Whenever you step out of the house, do not go barefoot.
Always wear slippers. This way, you avoid picking up new fungi. At home, try avoiding socks so that your foot breathes natural air. It also needs to be exposed to sunlight for sometime.
In spite of doing all this, if your feet are still bad, have a check up. You have to consult your doctor if your feet are swollen and very painful. As such, athlete’s foot is not dangerous. It becomes dangerous only when the infection develops and increases.
