We look at celebrities sporting their six pack abs and long to look like them. The deterrent to the process is the thought that it is too much work to achieve the look. We hear of people training almost endlessly to have killer six packs.
While it is true, there are far simpler ways of achieving it too.
The first step is to watch what you eat – literally! Yes, do not get distracted at meal times by the TV or other such media.
Eat at a table and be mindful of what you eat. This will focus your attention and prevent you from over eating. This will help to control portion size and total quantity of intake.
Secondly, avoid skipping breakfast. As the name of the meal implies, it helps break a long period of fast after a good night’s sleep. It will therefore provide energy and accelerate metabolism. This will burn fat and calories. Also, skipping breakfast makes us binge on lunch, leading to cyclical unhealthy food habits.
Also, switch to fats and oils that are good for health and those that have lower cholesterol levels. Opt for sesame oil, olive oil or canola olive to reap the benefits of weight loss.
Increase your water consumption. Increased consumption of water will help flush toxins from the body and get rid of the extra water stores thereby ridding the body of fluid weight. Also, water intake increases the metabolic activity and helps to efficiently burn fat. Low fat or skim milk can be substituted for whole milk.
Adopt an exercise plan that targets the abs and endurance. Try cardiovascular exercises to improve endurance and strength and stamina. This will promote heart health and also aid in burning fat. This way the entire body is targeted and fat from all parts is burned to give a sculpted look.
Lastly, understand the importance of sleep. 8 hours of sleep is required to lose body weight and decreases hormone levels and repairs muscles. Adopt all these measures consistently and regularly to achieve best results.
