Tips for successfully dating at the workplace

Since we spend a good amount of time at our workplace, so having a romantic relationship with a co-worker is nothing unusual. But all of that depends on the policy your office has regarding having relationships with your colleague.

At the same time you have to consider your other co-workers’ views regarding this matter. If you ask my opinion, I would say it is ok to date a co-worker, but that should not affect your work. As long as you are doing your work properly and managing your relationship well, things should be fine.

If you are romantically involved with your co-worker then I think these tips will come in handy for you.

Remember, you are dating a person who works with you. So you have to be extra careful about your tasks. Make sure you do your work properly. If your relationship affects your work, it will not be a pleasant experience for either of you. In that case you will be left with only two options – either end of relationship, or find yourself a new job.

When you are dating someone from your work-place, date just one, not the entire office. Here you do not get to choose from a pool of potential dates.

Make sure you date someone who is in the same position as you. If you go for someone who is in a higher or a lower position, that will eventually create problems for you. Avoid this kind of tricky situation.

There should be no public display of affection also known as PDA at the workplace. If you wish to have lunch together, it is better to go somewhere you will not run into your other co-workers.

Do not let your relationship become an issue when it comes to your salary or moving from one section to another in the office.

Keep all the disputes out of the office. Whatever issues you are having, deal with it after the work hours and outside the office.

If there is any rumor regarding your relationship in the office, simply ignore them. As a matter of fact it is better if you do not give anyone a chance to come up with any kind of story.
