Tips For Climbing The Corporate Ladder

Often a promotion does not come even though you may be ready for one or you think you deserve it. Sometimes all the merit, seniority, or potential do you out and someone else is given the position you had so hoped to fill.

This is not the time to fret and cry wolf. Doing so will only harm you in the long run of events. Be patient, and hang on in there. Here are a few things you can do to keep those dreams alive.

It’s all about timing for the game ahead now. Do not, under any circumstances, go and ask for a promotion just now. It just will not work any good for you and your case. You need to pick a time when your boss is lest stressed. If he is stressed out and trying to meet some deadlines it would be the last thing he will welcome from anyone.

So make sure he is in a complete relaxed frame of mind and not stressed in any way. This is the time to bring forward the question of your desire for a promotion. It is very important that you do not try to push him into any corners on the issue. Show you have the time and patience for a new load of responsibilities.

The second best thing you can do for yourself at a time like this is to welcome additional work from your boss. Go out and grab it in some way of you can. Let him see your enthusiasm.

This is a great way of showing off your leadership qualities, do be cautious please, do not over do it. All Corporate ladders need at every rung a strong leader. Show that you are a good team-leader. Organize a beer gig after work, or organize an office outing possibly.

In your endeavor to climb that ladder you need to have someone below you who can fill your shoes. So make sure you are grooming someone to take your place the day you need move up. If you are the only one who can do that job well, chances are you will never move.

Train someone along the way to mange your work or the upward movement you wish will never materialize. Just as you train someone below you; it may be a good idea to have someone on top of you, who you can be your mentor. Let him guide you up the garden path.
