Stop Aging
December 17, 2008
When you try out ways to avoid the candles on the cake and even to get yourself that new punk hairstyle and dress up in your teen cousin’s clothes, you are not stopping the process of aging: you’re merely covering up – and you know it! Our skin is the most revealing aspect about our age and many people mistakenly think it is exposure to excessive sunlight or cigarette smoking that puts the age-lines on our face. However, according to Dr. Carl Thornfeldt, who is a world renowned skin-specialist, wrinkles are actually caused by a chronic inflammation of the skin and there are multiple factors responsible for this.
He is an M.D. at the Oregon Health and Science University and says though it is easy to overlook the source of fine lines that age our skin’s appearance, neglected for too long, the same could end up making our face look like a catcher’s mitt! Now, who wants that kind of a mug, seriously?
So, men-folk wanting to tighten up their skin listen up: it is when the fine network of veins on your face ruptures (due to the lattice of connected proteins, fats and oils breaking up) that you get the puffy look; this can be severely damaging and almost impossible to reverse unless expensive and painful ways like skin-grafting and face-lifts are considered.
But if there are simpler, effective and cheaper ways to address the problem of skin aging, wouldn’t you? For that resounding ‘yes’ we have the top solutions:
All those in favor of regular workouts, you have a lot of new, healthy skin to gain, if you remember to washing off the sweat after the exercise, especially as the salts in it damages your skin’s defense when exposed to sunlight and pollutants. Try and work out indoors between 10 am to 4 in the evening (when the UV rays are at their peak).
If using face lotions and after-shave moisturizers pick one gentle on your skin i.e. without Propylene glycol, which may irritate the skin and cause inflammation. Avoiding processed foods, (white flour and sugar diets) that cause glycation reactions between skin molecules and learning to stay calm (stress releases histamines that disrupt the regeneration of skin cells, which is vital for preventing skin aging) are other effective ways to stop aging.
