Stay Well During Your Vacation
October 21, 2009
You have made long preparations for your long-awaited vacation. You have made reservations for tours and accommodations. Your pocket money and your budget allocation are final. Your itinerary is ready and you are counting the days until the vacation finally starts.
You might have missed out on one thing though. You might have missed out the fact that you should be well for the duration of your vacation to make the most out of your experience.
If you have a specific medical condition and you really are excited about the trip, you need to first visit your doctor for a thorough check up, making sure that you are fit to travel and only then go on tours and exciting trips. Also, your visit to the doctor may also be an opportunity for obtaining the immunization necessary for your travel, especially if there are some illnesses specific to your vacation location.
Once you get the go ahead from your doctor, you are ready to go to that tourist destination.
Always remember that the water in different countries may be quite different from what you are used to, so make sure that you avoid drinking tap water. Instead, prefer to drink bottled water or beverages to be safe. When you use ice in your drinks, you might want to think again because you can not be sure of the quality of the water that was used to make that ice.
Food prepared without adequate hygiene can also affect your digestion so avoid these kinds of food too. And if you plan on going for a swimming spree, avoid accidentally swallowing water especially if you are using public pools or resorts. Avoid eating street food because they get exposed to dust and may have bacteria that can cause diarrhea.
In case you have diarrhea, visit a doctor immediately to avoid dehydration. Take this seriously if you don’t want to spoil your vacation.
When you are travelling, one of the major adjustments that you will need to make is for the time zone in your destination. Carefully adjust your body clock while you travel to avoid long-term jet lag, which can affect your emotions as you start your vacation.
Drinking lots of water will help you while you travel. Small and light meals will be better than heavier, bigger meals; so watch your food intake,
Stay well during your vacation and it will really be worthwhile and memorable for you!
