Skin Care for Men
October 12, 2009
Men may be late comers to the game of skin care, but they certainly aren’t being left behind. Many companies have noticed the increased interest of males in the skin care aisle.
Not only that, but with the recent “metrosexual” fashion trend, it is no longer as emasculating for a man to show such an interest in his appearance.
Despite the generally acknowledged fact that men tend to age better than women, and sometimes even get more attractive, this doesn’t mean a man will necessarily want excessive wrinkles. Men these days are more interested than ever in their aging appearances and what they can do to slow down that aging process.
The problem is that most men don’t know what to look for in a skin care product. They may even think that whatever works well for their girlfriend or wife should work just as well on them too, and in this belief they would be very wrong. Due to hormonal and other kinds of physical fluctuations, men’s bodies require different skin-care regimens than women’s bodies.
Men tend to sweat more, their skin’s pores are shaped differently, the balance of moisture on the skin tends to be different, in addition to other differences from women’s skin.
Most men don’t have the experience and practice that women do at selecting better products for their needs, so many could stand to follow a little guidance or learn from a few quick tips.
Consider also the fact that men do more facial shaving and are prone to more irritation in that area. The following ingredients in products will be beneficial when applied to the face, as well as be effective as anti-aging agents:
• Witch Hazel–Free radical fighter and skin soother. This natural antioxidant can reduce inflammation and decrease the redness left after shaving. This free radical fighter helps prevent damage to skin cells, which then prevents more wrinkles and sagging as well as skin discoloration.
• Cynergy TK–Increases collagen and elastin protein levels, and improves the skin’s condition.
• Grapeseed Oil–Antioxidant and eye repair. This oil contains Vitamin E, among other things, and is especially helpful for improvement around the eye area.
