sexualfantasiesFantasy plays an important part in everyone’s life from a young age. Privacy gives us the opportunity to explore things in our own imaginations. Sexual fantasy best illustrates this principle.

It’s perhaps the healthiest way to explore your own sexuality, and a normal way to raise arousal. It can be frightening for some, but is also fun and functional.

Fear and anxiety can develop when people attach a stigma to fantasies, namely that normal people don’t have these dirty thoughts or feelings. Problems can sometimes arise in a relationship if a fantasy is seen as a betrayal of a partner’s trust. This can generate tremendous guilt.

Experts say that fantasies should not be handled this way. Take some time to explore and it is important to realize that the brain is the most important sexual organ.

Our fantasies should be enjoyed and explored. Our emotions are dictated by those fantasies, and the brain is what first turns us on. It organizes and directs our sexual urges.

Most people would run a mile to be able to fulfill a sexual fantasy. Fantasies take many forms; they give us free reign, allowing us to try out situations we may not consider in reality.

We can control our fantasies, creating a form of pleasurable daydreams, and keep it completely safe. Fantasy doesn’t hurt anyone, nor does it mean we’d actually want to try out what we are fantasizing about. We should accept our fantasies as a natural extension of our imagination, and not repress them as something to feel guilty about.

While both men and women may use fantasy to masturbate, they imagine things differently. Making love to a virgin, participating in a threesome or being overpowered by a woman might be the fantasies of a man.

On the other hand, a woman might fantasize about a complete stranger, group sex, or making love to another woman. One should be wary if fantasies turn violent or bizarre, as these might be symptoms of an underlying personality disorder.

Fantasy is our own private domain; it is completely natural and healthy. Free yourself from guilt and explore what your imagination has to offer.
