It is clear he wanted to prove that circumcision provides protection, and by means like this, people are generally able to get the result that they want. Only some varieties of HPV put women at risk of cervical cancer, and the causation is only partial. Various studies have shown no greater incidence of cervical cancer in the wives of non-circumcised men.
The Nielson study was very marginal indeed, bordering on no statistical signficance at all.
The Baltimore study was not as clear as you say: Only a small sub-set of the men, those with known HIV exposure, showed the circumcision effect, but only 50 of those men were not circumcised, so the “22%” who contracted HIV was only 11 men. The study shows five of those men might not have contracted HIV if they had been circumcised – or if they had sex with other partners, or fewer partners, or used condoms more often, and so on. It is impossible to extract worthwhile statistical data from such small numbers. Meanwhile 2.5% of the vast majority of men, those who had no known HIV, risk did contract HIV, and among them, circumcision had no effect..
I agree. approaching is half the battle. It demonstrates confidence immediately, which all women find attractive.
