Sarah Jessica Parker And Sex And The City

If you are a cable addict or even remotely interested in TV, film and theater internationally, there is no way you couldn’t have heard of the name Sarah Jessica Parker.
The blonde beauty, best known for her role as columnist Carrie Bradshaw in the hit HBO series ‘Sex and the City’ (the series won her 4 Golden Globe awards, 2 Screen Actors Guild awards and 2 Emmies) is an all-American actress who turned producer some time ago, with equal success.
A family move to a place near New York City proved to be a boon for Ms. Parker as she got an opportunity to develop her career as a child actress and soon after, another home shifting move by her parents (to Englewood, New Jersey) brought her into the limelight along with 4 of her siblings, when together they appeared in a revival of The Sound of Music in 1977.
Ms. Parker also acted in the 1977-81 Broadway musical Annie and proved her acting prowess as she held role for a year! Square Pegs, a CBS-TV sitcom fell into her lap a few years later, but her role as a shy, misfit teen with hidden depths won her a lot of critical acclaim and was probably the single most determining factor for her signing on 4 big banner films, including Footloose and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
Honeymoon in Vegas, Hocus Pocus, Miami Rhapsody, Mars Attacks and The First Wives Club followed soon after, winning Parker fame as a talented actress capable of both sophisticated as well as comic acting; then the HBO drama/comedy series titled Sex and the City was offered her, which she initially refused as she had doubts about being cast in a long-term television series.
However, it was Sex and the City that despite a risqué storyline got incredible public support that Parker turned producer for the show and won Emmies for it, besides also starring in a film version of it in 2008. There are now talks of a sequel of the movie Sex and the City coming out in 2009, in which Sarah is slated to play the same role of a sassy journalist and win more hearts in the bargain!
