Rock and Roll Hairstyles
October 31, 2009
Rock stars seem to have all the things average types are not likely to get. Fame and fortune sometimes lead to infamous lifestyles that we read about ever so eagerly.
There is at least one way we can be like rock stars, however. It is how they wear their hair. If you really think this may be for you, read on to see some of the more individualistic styles, and the stars that personify them
Short, like more traditional styles, but still different. It’s “spiky” looking. It is a self-aware and self-possessed style. Velvet Revolver’s Scott Weiland probably personifies this look more than any other rocker today.
Always achieve the distinctive texture with scissors, never with electric clippers. It says power and defiance, maybe to the point of outright disobedience.
Messed Up Layers
Chaotic and unconventional describe this cut. Just a look at Billie Joe Armstrong and it all gets clear fast. It takes intestinal fortitude to try to pull this one off. It is average to long everywhere, but its characteristic is, a lack of discipline. It seems to go in many directions at the same time. It requires you to take notice.
Clipped
Short and simple, it says, “I just don’t care what you think.” It is just a tad longer on top than on the sides. You can get away with this style either at the office or in the club. Just check out Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. With this style, he looks focused, even a bit serious, but it still does not take away from his rock image.
Layered But Longer
Do you want a mysterious look? Go with layers, not very long but definitely not too short. It’s a hip, chic look loved by the women. Jack White is a perfect example to make you understand this. For the little on the younger side, it still says sophisticated. It says you are going places.
Long and Staggered
This is the quintessential rock star look. If there is a style that runs through that group, this is it. Tommy Lee shows it like it is, but others sport variations. Marked by longer layers, it says edgy and self-confident. You need to be the genuine article to pull off this one.
Be a Rock Star
Hey, there is a little rock star in every one of us. You may not share the stage, but you can have the look of your favorite one.
