Recover From Overeating
October 7, 2008
Some people eat to live, others live to eat – we’ve often heard it said; but, if yours is a case of occasional overeating, there are ways in which to effectively recover from this episode without the side effects of bloating, sleepiness or lethargy generally associated with the disorder.
Overeating may be intentional or sub-conscious or even a social necessity (so you don’t appear impolite at the in-laws or at your new wife’s culinary efforts), but the fact remains that we’ve all been guilty of gluttony at some point in time or another and its best to know how to deal with the ill-effects before nastier results bog us down.
Sometimes, even dieters tend to overeat as they’ve been following a strict routine for sometime and it gets to them after a while; at others, it may be a problem of body weight maintenance that can cause serious health damage and therefore needs to be addressed with effective measures.
Whatever the reason, if one is smart, one can recover from overeating and get back on their health program without the negative effects of purging the food, which should never be indulged in as it has harmful consequences.
It is best to look at overeating as an occurrence that ‘de-railed’ you for a bit and now you need to get back on track, in order to stay in the right frame of mind to intelligently and effectively tackle with the problem. Include fruit juices, vegetables and fruit as well as milk in your diet besides broth, to flush the system.
Decrease salt to avoid water retention due to sodium levels increasing in the body and
Also make it a point to avoid under-eating as drastically lowering calories may cause your metabolism to crash, which may end up affecting your health adversely.
