Razor Burns

Excessive shaving brings negative effects on skin. While men and women alike want to appear hygienic and neat, excessive shaving can cause small bumps and burns on to the skin.
These small burns or skin bumps are called razor burns whereby the reddish and somewhat mild rashes become itchy and painful. The person would eventually feel the burning and painful sensation resulting in discomfort.
Razor burns can actually be prevented with the use of lighter and of course, the right kind and safe substances for shaving purposes. Those who have incurred razor burns need not to worry at all because these are curable even with home solutions.
To prevent incurring razor burns, the following steps and solutions will help you:
• Use a soft wash cloth that’s dipped in lukewarm water that’s mixed with lavender oil (or hot water if you can tolerate the temperature) and pat skin before shaving. Apply moisturizing oil, avocado and jojoba oil thinly. Start shaving in appropriate direction where hair is growing.
• Create a mixture of a quarter rose water and same amount of witch hazel (strained). Add five drops of essential lavender oil, sandalwood oil and a quarter of vegetable glycerine. Use it as your aftershave cream.
Follow these simple remedies when you have incurred razor burns after shaving:
• Use apple cider vinegar on the affected area. You can also dab the burned area with an aloe oil extract with the use of soft cotton balls. For effective use, soak the cotton balls in the oil and apply in the affected areas.
To minimize the burning sensation, you may want to use petroleum jelly thrice a day in treating the razor burns.
Understanding preventive ways on how to prevent razor burns can help you take care of your facial skin accordingly. In this case, you are to shave appropriately; preventing the use of a dirty razor, even those disposable razors can hurt your skin.
It is also advisable for you to avoid frequent shaving and the use of synthetic dyes, alcohol and fragrances as your after shaving liquid.
