Naomi Campbell, the top black super model of 1990′s, was born in Streetham, South London on 22 May, 1976 as the daughter of former ballet dancer Velarie Campbell. She studied at London Academy for Performing Arts and studied ballet from Italia Conti Academy.

Black Pearl

At the age of 15, she made a wonder appearing on the cover of Elle. When she appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine’s French edition in 1988, she was the first black girl to appear on it. She was the first black cover girl for Vogue UK, Vogue Nippon, Vogue China and Time magazine too.

Campbell exposed her for Playboy magazine and also appeared in a lesbian photo in Madonna’s book ‘Sex’(1992). In 1991, People magazine included her in ’50 Most Beautiful People’ list.

Charity

Campbell has been involved in humanitarian activities since 1997 focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa. She has worked with Nelson Mandela. In 2005; she participated in Fashion Relief to help the Katrina victims.

Angry Girl

Campbell admits that she has no control over her outrageous nature and has undergone treatments. She had made issues assaulting her then-assistant Georgina Galanis and threatening to throw her out of a moving Peugeot. In 2005, she assaulted her house keeper and was arrested.

Campbell had relations with actor Robert Deniro, boxer Mike Tyson, actor Luca Orlandini, Flavio Briatore and Adam Clayton. Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin is her boyfriend now and reports indicate that she is about to marry him.

Campbell knows her limits being black and says:”You know, the American president may be black, but as a black woman, I’m still an exception in this business. I always have to work harder to be treated equally.”
