Men with Sexual Dysfunction Should Beware Of Heart Disease

If the results of a comprehensive research published in the Journal of American College of Cardiology are to be believed men with sexual dysfunction and diabetes may be a very strong signal of an increased risk of heart disease.

A seven year study of over 2,000 men in the age group of 50 to 55 with a history of heart disease revealed to a research team headed by Dr. Peter Chun-Yip Tong that all the men who experienced sexual dysfunction turned out twice as likely to suffer a heart attack, develop chest pain caused from clogged arteries, suffer death caused by heart failure or may be in dire need for medical invasive surgery to prevent heart trouble. Those men with type 2 diabetes were even more prone to developing heart disease the study revealed.

Another senior doctor at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Dr. Robert Kloner, said that men with sexual dysfunction should be aware that they condition is a true harbinger of atherosclerotic coronary
heart disease. Dr. Kloner said that what the study reported to be new information as it was not known that sexual dysfunction remained a great risk of heart ailments even after controlling cardiovascular factors.

Because the arteries of men suffering from sexual dysfunction fail to expand completely it is a serious signal of impending heart ailment. The argument is that the arteries in the penis are much smaller than the heart arteries, so if the arteries in the penis fail to expand the arteries in the heart will definitely fail too. The failure of the arteries to expand is common to both conditions and so is taken as a warning sign as sexual dysfunction caused by failure of the arteries in the penis to expand means that the arteries I the heart will react in the same fashion very shortly.

Men are known to suffer sexual dysfunction in silence because of embarrassment. However, they should come out of this shell to prevent a much greater threat to life – heart disease.
