Men, Be Fit
April 23, 2009
Fitness and strength are the epitome of manliness.
When a person is fit they are able to perform their daily tasks with energy and without the fear of feeling worn out afterward. They even have energy to spare. Every man should strive for overall fitness. There is no age limit when it comes to trying to become fit.
To improve your fitness level, start participating in aerobic activities and strength training. There are three aspects to overall fitness that men should focus on when they exercise. The three aspects are cardiovascular exercise, strength training and a healthy diet.
Maintain your strength by building muscles. When men work out they should focus on building muscle. As a person ages, their muscle mass decreases by five to seven pounds every ten years. Slow the process of muscle loss by adding strength training to your workout routine.
Improve your fitness levels by partaking in cardiovascular activities, flexibility exercise and strength training. Cardiovascular exercise is an important factor in increasing your fitness level. Cardiovascular exercises develop your cardiovascular system which allows more blood and oxygen to flow to the muscle groups.
If you do not have a lot of time in your day to exercise, take whatever time you have to do some aerobic activities. This will help strengthen your heart and lower your blood pressure and cholesterol.
Nutrition is key to any fitness routine. Remember to eat smaller, more frequent, healthy meals throughout the day. Your meals should include the three macronutrients: fats, carbohydrates and protein. Proteins should be consumed in greater quantity than carbohydrates, but carbohydrates should not be completely eliminated.
Practice the following guidelines when exercising and in your daily routine to reach optimum fitness levels.
1. Remember to drink water throughout the day and even more when you are exercising.
2. Follow proper techniques when exercising.
3. Ask someone to spot you when you are weight lifting to avoid injury.
4. Create a challenging workout, but take care not to injure yourself.
5. Stretch before each workout and slowly cool down after each workout session.
6. Make sure that the equipment is in proper working condition before using it.
7. Do not over strain yourself.
