Meditate Stress Away
February 19, 2009
Meditation is an old and ancient art. Some have even given up being part of this world just to meditate as this world seems at time to many, just out of control. Yes we live in an ever demanding time which leaves us stressed.
Stress has become a part of our lives that we just carry on with out even trying to make amends. The very word stress it self tells its story as some thing undesirable. An art as ancient as meditation is definitely a way to rid your self of all these mountains you seem to have to climb.
What we think we are and we become is an old saying but sadly seldom ever given its worthy attention. So if you are going about in life thinking this is so tough and hard well that’s what every thing is going to seem and look like. Stop and get a grip on things around you. Meditation as defined by the dictionary is the act of thinking about something carefully, calmly, seriously, and for some time, or an instance of such thinking.
If you are trying this out for the first time then for starters I suggest you just find a quite place away from everyone. A quite place is necessary so that you are by your self. A noisy place of any kind will only distract you and hamper your desire to contemplate and reflect. In the more advanced forms yes there are certain healthy ways you have to sit but as a starter just find your self a good straight back chair.
Now we can start. First it is recommended to ease the body and mind, gently breathe in and out. Just concentrate on breathing movement of in and out. Do not breathe heavily just try to let it flow in rhythm. This helps in replacing the correct oxygen levels to the body. Do this for a good 5 minutes.
Having replaced the right level of oxygen to your body, your system is now what one may say really fully and truly alive. Most people like to keep there eyes closed. This is good as like sound distracts, now here neither will your sight distract you. Feel you body through your imagination. Your muscles will have relaxed as they get higher levels of oxygen.
Now junk all those negative thoughts over your right shoulder and bring your self for a change to all the things that are good in your life. Remember it’s the act of thinking about something carefully, calmly, seriously (there are a lot of things that are good we just do not seem to acknowledge them or see them).
Start with a 15 minute session for the first week. Add 5 minutes every week till you reach 45 minutes. For those who meditate regularly on a stressful day all they need is 5 minutes to blow the blues away.
