Life After Marriage
July 28, 2009
The time right after marriage seems like a magical one. You laugh at the silliest jokes, hold each other’s hand in public – nothing seems to matter to you. There is love in the air and you enjoy every moment of it.
But as time passes, things start to change. And this change comes especially when you become a parent. Sure, you gain some extra pounds and there are new responsibilities on your list, but at the same time, something is missing. It is that old romance that is somehow lost.
Every couple goes through this stage. Parenting is not an easy task and you are in it 24/7. Suddenly you realize that your priorities have changed as well.
Before you are all judgmental about not being able to spend all the quality time with your wife, just think about her tasks for a while. The kids need her undivided attention. If your wife is a working mother then she has loads on her shoulder.
But even if she is not working outside, that does not make much of a change. She is the one who has to take care of the entire household. In this case, you have to be compassionate and share her duties with her. In this way, your wife will not have the feeling that she is in the whole parenting job all alone and at the same time, the bond between the two will be stronger.
You have to keep in mind that your kids will pick up both your good and bad habits. If you keep arguing with your spouse all the time and show resentment, then it will have a negative impact on the child. The child will feel insecure and will not be able to have faith in you. So whatever disputes you have, clear it up before it gets too big.
Just because you have kids does not mean you cannot focus on your partner as well. Give your better half some attention as well. That will strengthen the bond between the two of you.
You have to make a commitment to make your marriage work and not just for the sake of avoiding problems. Do not hold grudges against each other. Instead let your love help you have a happy life.
Always think positive. Do not look at the negative things. Instead look at the things that are good and positive. After all no one is perfect. So what if someone makes mistakes.
