Is Chivalry Dead

Does anyone even know what chivalry is these days? I’m beginning to think that it is dead. Every once in a while I run across a chivalrous man, but they are few and far between. I’m not sure whether families teach their sons how to be chivalrous or if they think women are no longer interested in courteous men.
Chivalry refers to men doing nice little things for women, small thoughtful acts that make women feel special and adored. This doesn’t just mean paying for a meal; kind acts don’t cost a thing. All of the following are chivalrous acts that you can integrate into your everyday life.
Chivalrous acts
Men should always fall behind women when they enter a room. Of course, they should always open the door first, then step back and let the lady enter first. If the lady gets to the door first and opens the door, she should hold it open for him so that it doesn’t slam back and hit him in the face.
When escorting a lady, the gentleman should guide her thoughtfully by lightly placing a hand on her back or elbow. When eating at a restaurant, the gentleman should pull the chair out from the table and hold it steady until the lady is seated. The gentleman should never sit down before the lady does. At parties or social gatherings, the gentleman should rise when a lady enters or exits the room.
When at a large party or social gathering, the gentleman should rise when a lady approaches them and starts to talk. When entering or exiting an elevator, a gentleman always lets the lady enter or exit first. Gentlemen hold elevator doors so that they don’t close on the lady.
When walking a lady to their car, a gentleman always opens the car door and holds it open for her until she has been seated. Upon arriving at the destination, gentlemen should go around and open the car door for the lady.
If it is cold, and the gentleman notices that the lady is shivering, he should offer his jacket to her. A gentleman always offers his seat to a lady, no matter where they may be.
It doesn’t take much to please ladies. It’s the little things that mean the most. By following the tips listed above you will be on your way to becoming a gentleman.
