If You Lost Your Job

As bad, as it looks it’s a blessing in disguise. Your life is screaming out to you to make course corrections. Yes, losing your job is an emotional roller coaster especially if you are married and have children to look after. It leaves a bitter taste in ones mouth. What you must not let go of is believing in yourself. As hard as this may sound this is the time out you have been given to realign everything that has meaning to you.
When one gets laid off, all that is being said is that for whatever reasons, you are not fitting in to the current position you are holding. May be the company is having to down size as it is going through a rough patch itself. May be your lay off has been because it was felt that in the team environment one works in you were not fitting the bill for that particular team. It could be there is a clash of personalities with your boss and your boss just wants to have you out of the way, so that he can do things more easily without having to push his way around you. All said and done the only way you are going to come out stronger is by remaining positive.
Remaining positive is all about refocusing your energies as to what you want or need to do next. No point about pointing fingers at people here. Sit down and take a hard long look at what happened. Why do you think you got laid off? Be honest with yourself. It’s hard to be objective at times like this so go easy on yourself. It may be wise to take a week’s break before you sit down to unravel the mystery of being laid off. The first week is just going to churn up emotions that are unhelpful as they grow out from anger and fear.
Coming back to remaining positive, once you have bubbled over all the anger there is in you, sit down and plan ahead. What do you want to do? Once you have made a rational analysis of where and how things went wrong, put it aside and now look forward to the task ahead. Whenever I have looked back in my life and reviewed those things and events I thought at the time were awful, I now find myself saying ‘Thank God for that’
