Young actress of the television program, the O.C., Mischa Barton has become a symbol of beauty. Her thin, scantily clad image evokes sensations of yearning amongst men and a feeling of adoration amongst young female followers.
Her youthful, lean look is appealing to both men and women. Unfortunately, even this young beauty has been plagued with patches of cellulite on her legs.
Mischa Barton is not the only woman in her industry who is getting criticized for having cellulite. But because she is a celebrity and always kept under a critical eye, her patches of cellulite are a topic of conversation. But she is not alone. Many women have cellulite on their bodies. It’s just that because of her celebrity status, she is always scrutinized.
What is cellulite? Cellulite is an accumulation of fatty tissue found under the skin. As a result, the affect area appears dimpled. Cellulite is common amongst women and is often found on a woman’s trouble areas – her hips, thighs, and buttocks.
But it can also appear on a person’s abdomen. Women are more susceptible to cellulite than men are because women’s bodies naturally store fat. But some men do get cellulite.
Cellulite is typically associated with being overweight. So why would a thin woman like Mischa Barton have cellulite? The reason is is that being overweight is not necessarily a cause of cellulite. Cellulite can appear for other reasons.
One reason that a thin person may have cellulite is based on the composition of their fat cells. This may also be the reason why more men than women may have cellulite. Overall, women’s connective tissues are not as malleable as men’s are. For this reason, when a woman gains weight, her fat cells become larger.
Once the fat cells expand, it is hard to reduce them back to their original size. This expansion of fat cells causes unsightly bulges under the skin. The female hormone estrogen can also cause cellulite.
Cellulite has also been linked to a poor diet and lack of exercise. People who have a diet full of fatty and salty foods, high in carbohydrates, and lacking in fiber tend to gain cellulite. Smoking and a lack of exercise can also cause cellulite dimples and stretched skin.
But do not fear. There are many cellulite treatment programs available. One way to reduce the formation of cellulite is to eat a healthy diet and perform regular exercise. Diet and exercise is the simplest and least expensive way to treat cellulite.
If diet and exercise are not working, you can have a lymphatic drainage massage performed. When this type of therapy is performed the affected areas are rubbed and slapped.
This enables the lymphatic flow. There are also drugs that can repair the connective tissues and reduce the expansion of fat cells. Cellulite can also be treated by different procedures such as lontophoresis, pressotherapy, thermotherapy, and ultrasounds.
