How To Care For Curly Hair

Did you know that curly hair can be of many different types and its care is largely dependant on this factor? If not, here’ your chance to find out the nature and scope of curly hair and even pick up tips on caring for your mop!

Mostly, curly hair has a tendency to be dry, rough and a little brittle (tends to break easily). Some people with curly hair also report that their hair feels coarse, especially when they’ve been out in the sun. The main reason is the combination of dust and sweat along with the heat tends to add more ‘curl’ to the curly hair, which further saps it of the little wave it has and so, it feels the need for de-frizzing.

Luckily though, there are advanced hair-care and grooming products for curly hair that men conscious of their looks can invest in, in order to get their hair to behave. Some of these great new-age curly hair products include dryness and frizz control shampoo or spray,  (creamy shampoos are best as clarifying ones tend to dry the hair) a deep conditioner that is used once a week (over conditioning also dries the hair and is not recommended for curly hair), a styling cream and a serum.

The styling cream is used to improve the way your curls fall and is simple enough to use: just rub in and leave it in the hair to dry and voila! Your hair’s set for a hot date!

Curly hair benefits from using a style serum also, which is typically warmed by rubbing a few drops into the palms and then running the hands through the hair to work out the frizziness.

Alternately, if the above products don’t give you the desired results and you feel you have an unmanageable head of curly hair, you can also consider going in for a straightening treatment (temporary, just for a change of look) that is neither expensive nor permanent: get yourself a straightening balm or gel. Just before blow-drying your hair (after a shampoo), rub a quarter-size amount of the gel or balm on the hair and style as you please.
