How sickness can cause dry skin?

Dryness of the skin sometimes causes some diseases; particularly during summer and winter seasons. But there are some diseases which cause dryness of the skin. Such diseases are briefly discussed here:
This is one such disease which may cause dryness of the skin. Excessive blood sugar would cause dehydration of the skin. As a result of dehydration, dryness of the skin would set in.
Apart from this, it may also cause skin irritation. This irritation may continue for long time because in case of people with diabetes, the healing process is comparatively slow.
Genetic factors:
Many times dryness of the skin is the result of changes in the genes. Some times it could be hereditary also. In such cases the dryness can be controlled to some extent with moisturizers, etc.
At the same time, common skin allergies may also cause dryness of the skin. Such allergies can be cured by the use of moisturizers, creams or lotions, etc.
Skin Diseases like eczema would also cause skin dryness. Such diseases require immediate medical attention. There are many oral and topical medicines to cure these skin diseases and they are curable with proper medicines.
Deficiency of vitamins:
This is yet another reason for skin dryness. Deficiency of Vitamins A, D and E could cause this problem. Due to lack of any of these vitamins, the body will not be able to produce the required quantity of natural oils and the required level of moisturizer is not maintained in the body.
Lack of water:
Every one should drink enough water or liquid (at least about 6 to 8 glasses) daily. This will keep the skin properly hydrated. Lack of intake of water will dehydrate the water from the skin resulting in skin dryness.
These are some of the reasons why the skin becomes dry. If not treated properly, it could result in serious problems later. The skin infection may spread to more areas and it may even affect the general health of the skin.
So this has to be attended to promptly when the first symptoms of the disease appear. The first attempt should be to regulate the disease and the next, treating the affected part of the skin. Proper medical attention and preventive measures should be taken wherever possible.
