The effects of herbal weight loss supplements are in marked contrast to those of general medications. Herbal supplements are considered safer and do not lead to harmful side effects. Yet one must be keenly aware as to how these products are prepared and what their use can lead to.
Traditional Preparation
In the past, people made use of various aromatic herbs and plants to improve body function. People made use of whole plants or the roots of aromatic plants. These plants were either boiled or prepared as a tea.
Chinese Preparation
In later years, the Chinese further developed the process of creating herbal teas. Chinese physicians began preparing teas with eight unique blends of particular herbs. These herbs were cultivated with subtle techniques to best accomplish a balance, equilibration and synchronization of the body. Creating teas with the herbs did not lead to negative side effects in the body.
Modern Preparation
These aromatic herbs are further processed by pharmaceutical companies. They combine a variety of herbs together, but the results tend to be dangerous and can lead to harmful side effects. The exact manufacturing process is not completely disclosed.
This is also true of the development of weight loss supplements. Key ingredients are not identified and the process of refinement is not reviewed. As the effects are due to a conglomeration of herbs, it is not equivalent to consuming herbal teas.
Consequences
Many herbal weight loss supplements contain Ephedrine and Senna to activate the body’s metabolism. And yet they lead to more harmful side effects than effective results. Senna is naturally addictive, so after taking the supplement for a while you may find it difficult to stop using the product.
While most herbal supplements are not deadly, they are also not approved by the FDA. Some warnings are listed on product labels, including the risk of increased anxiety and seizure disorders. Consider these risks before consuming these fat burners.
