Hemorrhoids – Causes and remedies

Lately Hemorrhoids has become a common disease. According to a study, 70% of the world population suffers from this problem. What is alarming is that the number is increasing every day.
So what are hemorrhoids? It is a condition where the veins around the lower rectum or anus become swollen. There might be inflammation as well.
Anyone can have this condition. And one of the main things that cause this disease is the gene factor. This means this disease runs in the family. If an elderly member of the family has this problem, then there is a possibility that the members of the next generation can also be affected.
But that is not the only cause of this disease. This can also be caused due to aging, pregnancy, constipation and anal intercourse.
There are various types of hemorrhoids. The external one affects the veins that are located outside the anus. But these veins are very close to the organ. Then there are the internal hemorrhoids.
They are hard to locate and sometimes they can also cause bleeding. The third kind is known as the thrombosed hemorrhoids. They cause blood clot in the veins and they are painful. There is also another kind of hemorrhoid that is called prolapsed hemorrhoids. In this case the lumps can be felt from above.
If you have a feeling that you might be suffering from this disease, then it is better to consult a doctor as soon as possible. There are some easy remedies for this disease. First, make a habit of taking bath in a tub with warm plain water. Another remedy is to use a hemorrhoidal cream for the affected area.
Remember, those were just the basic remedies for the disease. There are other treatments for this condition. One treatment is the rubber band ligation. Here a rubber band is placed inside the rectum around the hemorrhoid base. The band stops the circulation and the hemorrhoids go away in a few days.
If hemorrhoids become more serious, it might need to be removed surgically. But that usually happens in rare cases.
