Get Stronger Minus The Bulk
February 16, 2009
We all have our fitness levels we decide on. Are you looking for bigger stronger muscles this year with out the bulk? If that’s the plan then you need to do certain things to get the most from your gym work out. How ever a word of caution when putting on muscle. Remember as long as it’s a long term plan to keep those muscles its no good you putting in all the time to do so now. So as long as its some thing you are going to keep doing for a long, long time don’t waste your time because once you stop its just going to go away.
Let us come back to the point of gaining maximum muscle strength. You need to concentrate on a smaller number of exercises for first. So you need to amplify exercises that work a maximum number of muscle groups at one time. This is the first thing you have to create. Secondly, you need to lift heavier weights to work those muscles to build that muscle power.
Let us look at the total volume of you current work out. Many gym instructors will give you an ever increasing number of exercises as they try to get you to develop all the muscles that you have. This now needs to change. You need to focus on just the major muscles. This will give you a better and more defined look.
There is a belief that in order to work harder on the muscle tone and get those bigger muscles you need to reorganize your cardio work out. Most people thing cardio workouts get the fat down. Yes, they do, but so does intense weight training. Cardio has the effect of limiting any weight training efforts as by the time you get to the weight training section of your work out you have already used up a lot of fuel in terms of body energy. So if its muscle work you want to concentrate on reorganizes your cardio work out. You could limit it to 3 workouts of cardio per week. That way you get three clear days to concentrate on the muscle work.
It is believed that to get maximum strength it may be a good idea to try Olympic style lifts. They are some of the best exercises for you to do. You have the clean and jerk as well as the hang clean. The over head snatch is equally relevant. Another point when working for strength is to lower your reps; you do this so that you can work with heavier weights. Working with heavier weights will as you know pump those muscles for you.
