Fitness Scams To Avoid
February 20, 2009
These days we find so many gadgets on the market that are supposedly there to give us a quick jump into the super fit era. The ads are so well designed and they all look so simple to use that many fall pray to give it a try. Sadly, there is no short cut to fitness. I do not know why we say fitness comes the hard way. Not really, it’s more a matter of perception. In the old, old days, there were no gyms even, but yet people just kept fit naturally. Well at least most of them had to (I say this as I am sure there were over weight people back then too) to stay ahead in the competitive world. It’s very much the case today. When was the last time you say an actor or actress over weight as a rule. Never, they keep fit and trim to make sure they get a fighting chance at good work.
So go easy on all these wonder ads which claim to give you even more fabulous abs. Most of them if not all are just commercial out lets exploiting you as a less informed individual in the hope to make a fact buck for them selves.
Let’s look at the great Electronic Abs Exerciser. It was claimed by the manufactures that the machine would send these electric currents to your abs. the current was supposedly meant to contract and release the muscle. This allegedly was going to burn the fat for you. What a sham; you were given to believe that all you needed to do was sit back and ‘relax’. Now how cool can that be. Sadly, please be informed that that is just never going to work. To burn fat demands that you get that body up and moving and do not just some cardiovascular exercise, but do it at the intensity that is required. There is some thing called a genetic predisposition that determines just how your body in particular will burn fat with the right inputs, namely workouts. Your body does not do spot fat reduction as this great machine wishes you believe. Before time it was part of the junk in the back yard of peoples home.
Then we had the great Abs Crunch Craze which was a host of videos which showed you a lot of sit ups that you needed to do to get the six packs you wanted. It was all so simple from the looks of it. Sadly, before time we learnt that the six packs come with the crunches along with a very controlled diet. Fail the diet and sorry you are not going to see any packs leave alone six. Yes, the sit ups will give you good abs but you need to also get that layer of fat off them only then and only then will any one get to see them.
