Electrolysis Vs Laser Hair Removal
September 16, 2009
There is currently more hype about permanent hair removal. The people, who want to remove the unwanted hair permanently, are often confused regarding which method to follow.
They read about methods of hair removal such as laser treatment and electrolysis on internet, in magazines, TV ads. But they need to know something in detail about these two processes to make a clear choice.
The removal of hair permanently through the electrolysis method can be done either by an electrologist or a physician. The process usually requires a needle to be placed in the skin next to the hair follicles.
A small electric current is passed along the needle to the hair roots and then the hair is removed. The electrical current is used to kill the roots of the hair, in order to prevent the re-growth of hair.
It takes more amount of time to get the results as every single hair has to be electrolyzed for the purpose of removing it. The process of removing the unwanted hair through electrolysis also requires more than one treatment, especially if they are having their hair removed from a very large portion of the body.
The electrolysis process involves much pain. The current of electricity, which is passed using the needle in the instrument, is not very strong. But since the hair follicles lie close to one another, every single follicle requires separate treatment.
The skin where the treatment is done often remains soft for many days. Sometimes certain areas appear red due to skin irritation and this can last for a week. It depends mostly on the sensitivity of the skin.
The cosmetic surgeon usually performs the laser treatment for the removal of unwanted hair.
Rather than removing every single hair follicle using shock treatment as in the electrolysis process, many hair can be removed with the laser treatment in less number of sessions and the process is much quicker than electrolysis.
So, laser treatment is an easier and faster method for hair removal. Also, laser treatment does not cause any pain like electrolysis and is considered as the best method by many people.
So, lots of people prefer the method of laser treatment to electrolysis for permanent hair removal, as they can do it in less number of sessions without any pain. But there are some risks involved in laser treatment too and the method is costlier than electrolysis.
