The best way to prevent heart disease is to understand its causes and the risks that go with it. Because of varying conditions and situations, different kinds of information passed from one person to another. Some were facts and some were myths.
Here, I will present some of the myths related to heart disease, as well as preventive steps.
Myth 1. Cholesterol-reducing drugs reduce the risk of getting a heart attack.
This is not true. These kinds of drugs do not solve the causes of the disease. As mentioned, what it specifically does is, to reduce cholesterol and that is it.
Myth 2. Margarine is better for you than butter.
This is definitely not true. If you think that the lower amount of cholesterol in margarine is better for you than using butter, think again. The unstable hydrogenated oils in margarine can damage your arteries and can lead to a higher risk of getting a heart attack.
Myth 3. Low fat diet will help you reduce the risk of getting a heart disease
Studies show that a low-fat diet will not get rid of heart disease. Diet does not have an effect on this. Then what would be the effective ways to prevent heart attack?
Have a regular exercise program.
Correct exercise can improve your health. It does not have to be high intensity exercises. Such exercise may strain your heart and can worsen the situation. A simple stroll or walk in the park can help to reduce the risk of a heart failure.
Try transcendental meditation
This eases out some pressure and stress that may affect your general health. This technique, with its effects of lowering blood pressure, proves effective in reducing heart failure risks.
There have been studies that show a decrease in mortality rates for heart ailments in cancer, for those who practice this kind of meditation twice a day.
Consider high anti-oxidant foods in your diet
The effects of anti-oxidants include prevention of aging and ensuring clean arteries, thus stabilizing the amount of oxidized fats in the artery walls. Foods of this type include bean, berries, broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and citrus fruits.
Now that you already know the myths as well as the facts, you can have a healthy lifestyle and at the same time enjoy a life free of heart disease.
